Ten shilling note forgotten?
First countries to _globalize_ are also first to get to live in Idiocracy. From staging 9/11 to staging pew-pew at Trump's rally it has been a freefall down the abyss of ignorance for the entire population of this country. Europe is not that far behind either.
A lot of America's problems boil down to too much government intervention. Medical care costs are largely so high because the government meddles with the insurance companies. This is also why many medical procedures and devices tend to cost as much as a new house or car. By the way, the poor don't have to completely go without medical care in the USA, as hospitals can't deny emergency treatment due to inability to pay. Plus, welfare benefits tend to include health insurance coverage, primarily in the form of Medicaid and Medicare. Some clinics will treat those with low incomes at reduced prices or free of charge.
Would georgism tax land that people just lived on, rather than generating income from?
Ironically, the United States was one of the first countries to adopt decimal currency. Too bad the country didn't adopt the decimal measurement system.
Conservatives are talking about 1950's America. You guys were still recovering from WWII.
My grandmother use to say shilling up till recently… a dime to her, was a shilling
If Karl Marx had a RUclips channel
Canada's dollar coin is a looney. The two dollar coin is a tooney.
This was a well researched and pretty accurate assesment of England. I enjoyed the editing as well.
But because there were 240 pence in a pound, it felt like prices were lower - an illusion, I know - similar to the way you weigh less in kilograms
Or weigh even in stones, as my late English father in law used to measure weight
I sort of like the archaic way of old. I’m Canadian, but my wife was born in England and remembers the old system although she was very young and moved to Canada before the change
One reason Americans don't follow the news is our news is sh*t. Endless wining and drama. When I talk to fellow Americans I realize they do no research and can't perceive the more complex ":big Picture" of how things affect each other locally or globally. They want simple answers and simple beliefs....God is lord and Trump is my savior.
"You should support my favorite form of theft, it is practical and offers more utility than other forms of theft!" the video. Perhaps the problem is the overregulation of construction and manipulation of the market. Perhaps you should question why money-printers and fraudsters (fractional reserve bankers) get to own any property in the first place, instead of focusing on which particular type of scarce resource they claim to own. It's the State and Fractional Reserve banking, not the concept of land ownership, that is your problem. Stopping the theft is the solution, not a more "fair" theft.
why is no one talking about the last one, that one is the most crucial blunder and very much affects us today and will for generations to come
Cant wsit fo "jilling"
Oh dear... A cumudgeonly account which ignores that after 1945 and before '78, the standard of living in the UK a, America etc was rising for all every year... but after that date, the standard of living has declined ... Of course, before the reforms of the New Deal in the USA or the social reforms of the Coalition and subsequent governemnts of the UK after '39, life was, indeed, a living hell for most people... but that's BEFORE tyhe laws and economics that gacve tus the country we remember from (say) the '50's to the 'end of the '70's. Simply because in '79, we stopped taxing the super rich to fund the things that alowed wealth to be created (civilisation, services, progress) and now it's just a matter of selling it all off to ... the Rich to sell off again for scrap. But yeah.. go ahead and ignore the very basic global move from Keynsian economics to NeoConservatist Monetarism and blame 'Nostalgia' for the massive decline. Maybe it's 'Nostalgia;' which causes our memories of not being beset with floods, hurricanes, droughts and mass crop failures too? No doubt the massive epidemioc of depressionma nd suicide in today's chilsdren and young people is because they, too, are nostalgic for "the good old days" - nothing to do with climate change, the explosion of poverty and the impossibility of getting a decent job or ever affording a house.
Well, I can name 15 countries in North America, but I'm Canadian, so...carry on. (Damn right it's Zed BTW!)
😂😂your humor is unmatched. Also; Woops! 💀👀
3:00 I mean it’s still understandable, but it’s better to just use decimal currency, like £,€,$, etc.
Yet birth rates are higher in the suburbs you hate so much
9:50 Hi, I’m 13 years old
I lived, studied and worked in Britain in the 90s (Leeds & London), left in 2000 to return to my home country, France. I loved everything about Britain from your history to your culture, the 90s were fabulous in London, I have very fond memories of this decade (and England). Although I was not earning that much at the time (around 1600 pounds a month as an HR Assistant), I had a lovely studio in Northfields near Ealing Broadway (around 550 pounds a month), had an active lifestyle and still managed to save up for my holidays, I remember my mother visiting me in 1996, she fell in love with London and how lovely Ealing was. These were great years (music, people, economy, culture...), people were happy and positive. I can hardly recognize my "second home", it breaks my heart.
This explains the non-metric measurement system perfectly. Why do we still use it in the US? lol
so cool to learn more about de girard, my hometown is named after him
drug's and alkol
A shilling is a nickel Just like everyone else in Europe before Napoleon
The west is bankrupt.
Why are you wasting energy all those trips. Garbage logic
Stop lieing people can create a news article and hate on elon musk i was reading a newspaper and it said that elons musk has a secret relationship with 2 employes like what its all fake
What doesn’t come across is the weight of these coins,a pocketful of change meant you walked with a limp. As kids we used to place a penny on a local railway line it would flatten out like a discus.
All that for some unseasoned food
Been a dump for decades no news really just becoming expensive dump...
Finally, someone who realises we have a written constitution.
Arse pocket.. it was easy....honest... no pocket calculator.. you were taught at school properly.
America now, is kind of like the UK was in the late 1800s. Still a power but losing it fast the cultural impact America has is massive - it owned the 20th century and it's still doing it in the 21st century. Its so strong that anyone born in the UK after 1995 is more like an American than a traditional Brit
In Hindu Dharma there is no ban against vaccines in fact Ayurveda encourages it and there have been traditional vaccines since long back . So I do not mind that technique , because it is not cheating at all , just a clever way to educate the masses faster .
If this video said that "nr. 5 will blow your mind" I would not even be mad. Cause it blew my mind
based tbh
At the end of the day, the breakfast I had was pretty good so I'm not complaining.
Americans while sleeping: Zzz Britishers while sleeping: Zed Zed Zed
Does this help people see the truth about the green movement? They don’t care about the planet, all they care about it the absolute control of resources.
Seems you can't even manage the money you looted from other countries.
British people making fun of americans but they weight themselves in how many rocks they equal to (stone)
When I was 5, my mum and I travelled from Canada to the UK to visit Grandad in the summer after decimalisation and we were at the local shop. Grandad gave me some coins like a few 5p, 2p, 1p and a bunch of halfpennies. Mum and Grandad were complaining to the shop keeper about the coinage and I turned and said, "This is like our money!'. The scour on everyone's face was choice! lol
I was educated in pre-decimals, algebra and logarithms. None of them were of any use to me from the age of sixteen.
I think this is a testament of how austerity does not work under any circumstances. South Africa, where I live has been trying to do the same thing and our economy has stagnated and declined as a result. Why cant governments realize that you have to spend money to make money.
I was 11 when decimalisation happened. Even at that it early age, I fully understood the “old system” and was adept at the arithmetic associated with it. (Learning the 12 times table is simple) Hardly a nightmare.
Yeah good research until the Old/Young thing.
Pain.
